The victory was the first ever for the Haitians in the final round of Olympic qualifying. Kimberly Alexis Boulos scored to help Haiti beat Cuba 3-0 on Monday night in its final game at the CONCACAF Olympic qualifying tournament.
Haiti women’s team lost their two previous games at this tournament to Canada and Costa Rica by a combined score of 8-0, putting the semifinals out of reach.
The United Nations says it is investigating two alleged cases of sexual exploitation of children by UN staff in Haiti.
“The UN Secretariat regrets to confirm that, on 16 January 2012, the UN mission in Haiti, Minustah, alerted headquarters about two allegations of sexual exploitation and abuse involving minors in Haiti,” Mr Nesirky said.
The suspected officers have been removed from their duties while the investigation is under way.
Mr Nesirky said the UN was “outraged” by the allegations and would take its responsibility to deal with them very seriously.
UN spokesman Martin Nesirky said one of the cases involved UN police in the capital, Port-au-Prince, the other allegedly happened in Gonaives.

NBC’s “The Biggest Loser” TV Celebrity Trainer Jillian Michaels is looking to adopt and says she has fallen in love with a little girl in Haiti.
The personal trainer who recently resigned as a judge on NBC’s “The Biggest Loser” told AccessHollywood that she wanted to add to her family through adoption.
She says she was paired up with a child, and the only thing standing in her way is paperwork and a trip stateside for her.
“I’ve been matched with a little girl,” Jillian excitedly revealed to Billy Bush and Kit Hoover on Friday’s Access Hollywood Live. “But, I now have to get her home… It could take up to a year to get her home.”
Jillian, 37, met the girl she is hoping to adopt on a trip to Haiti.
